Happy Chinese New Year!
It's the Year of The Dog...
Dogs are man's best friend, and are loyal, friendly and kind. People born under this sign are said to share those traits. They are honest, easy going and helpful to others. They are less likely to seek money and power and more likely to try to make the world a better place.
The Chinese New Year is geared to the cycles of the moon, always beginning on a new moon and lasting until the full moon. This is why it falls on different dates each year.
It's traditional during this time to wear something red - the color of good fortune. Red envelopes with money are often given at this time to children and adults with no job.
Mandarin oranges are also an important gift at this time. They are seen as a symbol of "giving gold" - so giving them is the same as wishing prosperity to the recipient. Placing a bowl of mandarin oranges in the kitchen is said to bring about good fortune. Then you can eat them for the Vitamin C!
And if you want to give the gift of love and good fortune, you can always call my clinic at 619-281-7696 to get a gift certificate for an initial acupuncture visit for someone you know and love!
